Why
are there weeds in my lawn after round 1 was applied?
Round 1 does not prevent broadleaf weeds. It is designed to keep
crabgrass and other grassy weeds from germinating. Broadleaf weeds
control is applied in rounds 2-5 when weeds are present. If weeds
are ever a problem give us a call and we'll be out to take care
of them for you.

Can
the application be stressful to my lawn?
Yes. If weed control has been applied and temperatures are high,
water the lawn as soon as instructed, usually the next day, and
don't cut too short. In fact, sometimes we cannot even apply the
lawn because of the temperature.

When
is the best time of the day to water?
Early morning. After dark is acceptable but not recommended.
Watering in the evening is a major cause of lawn disease. If the
lawn sits damp longer than normal, fungus will thrive.

What
are the strange spots and circles in my lawn?
These sometimes can be due to disease and/or insects. Lawn disease
thrives due to incorrect watering and mowing practives. Although
some lawns are more susceptible genetically, mowing at least three
inches high with a sharpened blade, watering correctly, aerating
every year and using preventive fungicide / insecticide will give
your lawn a better change for success.

How
can Aeration help my lawn?
Even a garden must be tilled every so often, and so should your
lawn. Aeration allows more air exchange within the soil for better
root structure, and allows for better fertilization and water
absorption. The cores left behind contain microscopic organisms
that break down the thatch that helps cause lawn disease.

How
do preventive applications help?
a preventive goes down before any damage can get a foothold for
the year. Otherwise we would have to wait to see damage before
we can diagnose the problem. This allows the disease / insects
to hurt the appearance of your lawn. These application would go
down in the mid to late spring before damage is present.

How
do I know what height to set my mower?
If there's one thing that helps conserve water and keep a lawn
looking its best without a lot of work, this is it. Mow a patch
of lawn and measure the grass height. During cooler times of the
season, two to three inches is good. During the hotter months,
raise the deck above three inches to leave the length for water
storage in the blade. This actually slows the growth, saving you
money and time.

Why
aren't the weeds dying after the weed control was applied?
Our systemic weed control translocates within the weed after
water has been absorbed. It takes about two weeks to see results
since both the weed and roots are being destroyed. This is Mother
Nature we are dealing with here, and some weeds are harder to
kill. Clover, Creeping Charlie, and violets, for example, may
need a second treatment.

How
much do I need to water and when?
Water each zone for 45 minutes, 2-3 times a week. If you don't
have a sprikling system, a good way to measure is to place an
empty tuna can in the zone and store the water when the can is
full. After a weed control application, you must water the lawn.
